About this tool

Prices come from daily historical market data. If your purchase date falls on a weekend or market holiday, the calculator uses the next trading day instead.

With reinvested dividends on, the result reflects total return — as if every dividend paid along the way was used to buy more shares on its payment date. This is the more realistic number for most long-term comparisons, especially for dividend-paying stocks and broad-market ETFs.

With it off, the result reflects price appreciation only (still correctly adjusted for any stock splits), and any dividends that would have been paid are shown separately for reference rather than added to the total.
